gypsymoongirl7:32pm: The Cloud

I am the daughter of Earth and Water
And the nursling of the sky;
I pass through the pores of the ocean and shores;
I change, but I cannot die.
For after the rain, when with never a stain
The pavilion of heaven is bare,
And the winds and sunbeams with their convex gleams
Build up the dome of air,
I silently laugh at my own cenotaph
And out of the caverns of rain,
Like a child from the womb, like a ghost from the tomb,
I arise, and unbuild it again.

The Cloud by Percy Bysshe Shelley

gypsymoongirl12:02pm: Fiction
Have any of you picked up any "wisdom" from fiction? I've read Fantasy novels for most of my life. And in retrospect - there is quite a bit of magick out there in fiction. Sometimes you have to read between the lines. I don't know, maybe I'm just seeing magick everywhere ;-)

rainbowstrlght12:36am: "The Magickal Life" by Vivianne Crowley
Hi everybody! I haven't posted in awhile, but I just finished reading The Magickal Life by Vivianne Crowley, and wanted to recommend it. She explains a lot of things through anecdotes of her magickal journey; which sometimes makes it amusing, and sometimes makes it touching. But mostly, I found a unique trove of information. Her writing style is also very easy to read, and it's also entertaining. Overall - it's a good book for beginners, but I think it can be useful to anybody; just because we all don't follow the same adventures. So - go read it! There are used copies on Amazon for only $1.99... *hint hint*

gypsymoongirl7:44pm: Portents?
I wanted to get some input on what you folks think this means. Every night since the full moon - including the night of the full moon - the same thing has happened. I go out to look at the moon and just be outdoors every evening around the same time. Every single night I have seen a shooting star. Just one. Same quadrant of the sky always moving in the same direction.
There is a lot of crazy madness in my life - a lot of change. There almost always is. I will be traveling soon - back home to Nebraska.
Any suggestions?
Note - I am aware that the Leonids have been putting on a show in this time frame. But I  only see the one 'star'.

Their newsletter is a lovely source of knowledege - and of course books, magickal implements, jewelry, metaphysical goodies... did I  mention books? And the owners, Charlie and Cindy are two of the loveliest people I've ever met!

magdylan9:32am: Moon Shadow
Well, it's Esbat time again! Mother Moon shining bright!!
I've been trying to think of a way to pep up my Esbat observances. Ya know, those Catholic folk have something called Stations of the Cross... How about Phases of the Moon. So now I'm wanting to go research! Those crazy Catholics have a thing for high ceremony. And they say they are against Magick!??? If you look at their Stations of the Cross... hello ... Sympathetic Magick Ritual anyone?? Ofcourse, my 'inner witch' says The Catholics can go to their Purgatory... we don't need to look at their ceremonies to come up with our own! All I can think is ... if it's a dumb idea but it works... it's not a dumb idea! So, will have to do some research there.

Otherwise, Phases of the Moon Rite for Esbat. Hmm. Could be like calling quarters only you call moon phase instead of elements. You could maybe do something similar to Drawing Down... the Moon... In all it's lovely Aspects...

You could get rip roaring rat-arsed and driink toasts to the quarters...of the moon... and get Lupy.. I mean loopy?
Any other suggestions?

rainbowstrlght10:41am: *slightly confused expression pours over her face*
Some people are celebrating today as Lammas. Which I guess is perfectly okay; but if it's the opposite of Imbolc - which is on February 2nd - then shouldn't it be August 2nd?

Sabbat guidelines never really help either. I can look in a dozen different books, and they'll either say August 1st or 2nd. (But this often is the same way for Imbolc, too; with either February 1st or 2nd.)

Has anyone else had this problem?

But to not make this a weird post: What does everyone else normally do for Lammas? (If you celebrate.) Recipes, spells, etc? Normally I make a loaf of herbed bread in my bread maker. (Yeah, I'm talented. :D)

gypsymoongirl4:34am: Crafty Comic Relief
Okay, I'd like to start off by saying that I do take the concept of a BOS very seriously.
Having said that. I've just introduced an idea to a friend and thought I'd branch out and offer some comic relief to my e-friends in this community. My idea -> The Hitchhiker's Guide to Witchcraft. I thought it would be quite interesting to create a seperate book of shadows where all the entries read like they were written by Douglas Adams. And all the chapters would be Chapter 42. gypsymoongirl12:59pm: What a cool idea!

>>> Synergy Circle will be presenting the Hot Fudge Sundae Rite. This Rite is light hearted but it is very magickal. We have researched the sundae toppings and have a correspondence list with the energy of
the food and what it will bring into your life. So as you harvest the fruits and nuts of our "field", you will bring that energy to yourself for the rest of the year. Doors to this wonderful air conditioned hall open at 7:00 PM ritual starts at 8 PM, bring friends and a dish to share for the feast following ritual. <<<

Now I am going to have to do some research! Which, admittedly, takes me for bloody ever!! I have other obligations this evening or i would go visit these lovely folks. (incidentally, they are in Florida)
And my favorite part - they are having dessert before dinner. I'm just a kid at heart!!
